Soccer

While there isn’t much to report in the world of soccer, we did have some young soccer stars shine in the spotlight.

We’ve had two young Lotto goalkeepers under the spotlight in recent weeks!


Gioele Zacchi, born in 2003 from Sassuolo, has been confirmed for the U19 National Team for the European Championship from June 18th to July 1st in Slovakia. 

Similarly, Nicola Bagnolini, born in 2004 from Bologna, made headlines when he made his Serie A debut in the last league match against Genoa.

Tennis

Tennis saw all sorts of big wins and great placements from Lotto athletes (and other tennis stars)—especially at the French Open 2022. Here’s the latest in tennis. 

Gilles Arnaud Bailly from Belgium is the Runner Up in Boys Singles

At the 2022 French Open (Roland Garros), Gilles Arnaud Bailly from Belgium stepped up big. He was the runner-up for the entire tournament, finally being defeated by Gabriel Devru of France in the finals with sets of 7-6 and 6-3.

More news from Roland Garros—Edas Butvilas from Latvia and his partner Mili Poljicak of Croatia took the crown at the boys' doubles. They last defeated Gonzalo Bueno and Ignacio Buse in the final with sets of 6-4 and 6-0 to take the title. 

Jason Kubler Wins ATP Challenger in Little Rock, USA

Victory for Jason Kubler! 

After a hard-fought battle against wild card challenger Ben Shelton in the semi-finals, Jason Kubler won it all in the finals against Wu Tung-lin with sets of 6-0 and 6-2. 

Jule Niemeier Wins WTA 125 in Makarska

Seventh-seeded Jule Niemeier took her biggest trophy to date at the Makarska Open WTA 125 tournament, defeating Elisabetta Cocciaretto from Italy with sets of 7-5 and 6-1 in the final.

Ons Jabeur Ranked No. 4 in the World

Tennis star and Lotto athlete Ons Jabeur recently obtained her highest WTA ranking: Number four in the entire world. 

Austin Krajicek and Ivan Dodig Are Runners Up in Men’s Doubles

Great results for Austin Krajicek and Ivan Dodig—they were the runners-up in the men's doubles at Roland Garros. Krajicek and Dodig were finally bested in the finals by Marcelo Arévalo and Jean-Julien Rojer. 

Joran Vliegen and Ulrikke Eikeri Get Second Place in the Mixed Doubles

Joran Vliegen from Belarus and Ulrikke Eikeri from Norway took second place in the mixed doubles at Roland Garros. They lost to Ena Shibahara and Wesley Koolhof with sets of 7-6 and 6-2.
